Welcome Aboard!

This summer treat yourself to a sailing vacation along the scenic waters of Southeast Alaska! You will enjoy the beauty of the endless forests, majestic mountains, and undeveloped waterways as we sail silently among the straits, bays, and inlets of the protected Inside Passage. Hear the roar of icebergs calving as we drift among the floating ice at the face of a tidewater glacier. Listen to the cry of bald eagles as we swing gently on the anchor in a pristine wooded cove! Wildlife abounds!

Our boat is a Catalina 50, completely equipped for your safety and comfort. We have three guest cabins, each with a large double berth and a private head with shower. We sail with a maximum of six participants each week. Most people bring a group of family or friends to fill the boat, but you can also take one or two cabins. We offer several itineraries, customizing the trip to match your interests. The boat will be provisioned according to your preferences and our specialty is fresh seafood that we catch along the way!

We are one of the few companies selected to offer charters in Glacier Bay National Park!  Sailing up Glacier Bay is like traveling back in time.  Two hundred years ago, the bay was completely covered with a huge glacier that filled Icy Strait (named by Captain Cook) with icebergs.  Today, the entrance to the bay is home to a mature temperate rain forest.  As we sail up the bay, the landscape and vegetation change because of the length of time the land has been uncovered by the ice.  At the head of the bay, nothing but ice, gravel, and rock mountains surround us.

Most of the rest of our cruising area is comprised of the Tongass National Forest—our nation’s largest at almost 17 million acres.  It is a temperate rain forest and comprises part of the well-known “Inside Passage”.  We do have a special use permit from the Forest Service to allow you to explore the many islands, beaches, and trails of this special place.

Send me an email and I’ll send you general information about our sailing trips.  If you let me know about when you’d like to sail, how many people in your group, and what your interests are, I’ll let you know what our availability is and suggest an itinerary.

I am closing in on my 20th season of providing sailing charters in Southeast Alaska.  The wildlife and scenery are fantastic, and it seems like something incredible, whether seeing brown bears feeding in a stream or watching humpback whales breaching alongside our boat, happens every day.  I look forward to sharing this great area with you!

By the way, no sailing experience is required—just a desire to explore, observe, and enjoy the beauty and abundance that is Alaska!
